9 years and counting

I was really hoping I would have a picture of Brad and I readily available on my computer to put with this post but I don't.

Today we celebrate 9 years of marriage. We are both 28. You do the math. We were practically babies when we got married! On top of that, we dated over 3 years before that! Yeah, it was totally meant to be.

I remember the night like it was yesterday. Cold, about 6 inches of snow on the ground, Thursday night, just the two of us and my parents. I wouldn't have it any other way. I can't wait to tell the kids the story of our wedding when they are older and it means something to them. I am hoping I will have Brad convinced that we should renew our vows by this time next year!

When I worked at the animal hospital in Charleston, during the first year or so of marriage, I rememeber having a conversation with everyone working that day about whether we would get married again if we could do it all over again. Needless to say, I was the only one who said I would do it again!! They claimed it was only because we were still in the "honeymoon phase." Let me just say, we are long past the honeymoon phase and I would still do it again! I just can't help but wonder how many people out there wouldn't want to do it again. I can't imagine not marrying Brad, where I would be without him by my side who would have replaced him.

So in honor of 9 years, I wanted to share a list of 9 reasons I would do the whole marriage thing again (with Brad).

1. He is a Godly man.
2. He loves his wife (ME!).
3. He loves his kids.
4. He supports us without complaining. Ever.
5. He is the most selfless person I know, which can be annoying sometimes but it is a good quality to have.
6. He needs me and I need him.
7. He asks if he can use "my" truck even tho he pays for it and bought it.
8. He is the only father example I want my kids to have in their lives.

And here's to 9 more!

  1. Happy anniversary! What a lovely post.
I had the same idea - I want to renew our vows next year for our tenth too. Just Michael and I though, like over dinner. :-) I'm going to write mine myself this time.

  2. That was a sweet post, Liz! If you had said something I could've sent you a picture to post. I just happened to have run across it the other day.
