why didn't I learn this sooner?!

Mother, O' Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth.
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due,
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek - peekaboo.

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew,
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo.
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow,
But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

So next time you come to my house, overlook the mess! ;)

Conversations with God...from a 4 yr old

Ryan is our little prayer. Every time we eat he wants to be the one to pray. I actually have to tell him no sometimes! I heard a saying once: "What if you woke up with today only what you thanked God for yesterday?" Let me just tell you that Ryan would still have EVERYTHING including, but not limited to, his plate and the truck. During his rather lengthy list of thank you's last night he added "...and thank you for the roof so we don't get pooped on by birds and..." Just one more reason why I love that boy!! He always keeps me guessing!

schedule change

School is in full swing around here. With that comes a new schedule, homework, fall weather, and a quieter house! So far Hannah is loving her teacher, Mrs. Cobb, and 2nd grade in general. I am praying that it stays this way the whole year! Last year she didn't like school and had a hard time with just about every aspect of school, even tho she got good grades.
She is not in class with her best friend from last year, (the daughter of my best friend in high school!) or a lot of the other kids she went to 1st grade with. But she has already made a new best friend.
This school year is different for us in more than one way. I'm still trying to find a good schedule for us with a new baby in the house. Right now we are just doing what gets us by because after Labor Day Ryan will be going off to school and the schedule with change a little more. The main things will be the same but I won't be just rushing one pokey child around, it will be two!! I often wonder what I would be doing this year if God hadn't allowed me to have another baby. I think that is one thing that made me really want another baby to begin with. I felt like my job as a mom was ending with the year both kids went to school quickly approaching. I know that isn't true, but that's how I felt. I have always said I want to go back to work (I still really miss my job at the animal hosp) when everyone is in school but I would really like to wait until they are older and the chances of them needing me during the day aren't as high. Hannah was sick a lot her preschool year. I bet she had the stomach bug half a dozen times that year. So I had to go pick her up a lot. I'm praying Ryan doesn't have the same problem but I guess we'll see!
I'll let you know how it goes when Ryan goes off to school for the first time. At open house he refused to get down and look around the room or talk to his teachers. Since then, he has been excited to go pick up Hannah because we always see his teacher and he now says he's ready to go. I really hope so! I told him that if he isn't sad to go, I won't be sad that he is going! I will miss my little boy but I know he will have fun at school and he's ready.

Birthday girl

My life was forever changed seven yrs ago with the birth of my first child. Hannah has been the guinea pig in many instances during her life. Not only was she the first child but I was only 20! Brad and I still had some growing up to do. Nonetheless, it's been an amazing 7 yrs. I'm thanking God for giving me seven yrs with her and praying selfishly for many seven mores.

We are having more of a party tomorrow evening (after the first day of school, I might add) but she wanted chicken alfredo and blueberry muffins for her birthday dinner. We got her an mp3 player, which she loves!

Happy birthday, Hannah. You've been a wonderful guinea pig and we love you more than you'll ever know!

Uh Oh!

Today the weather was unseasonably cool so I had to break out my jeans and Abigail's fall-type clothes. I know I just had a baby 4 months ago but I have got to get on the ball and loose the last 10lb of my baby weight our I will only have one pair of jeans that fit me this winter!! But what is this beside me?! A kitkat wrapper....sigh. I'm having a bit of trouble giving up my indulgences!! =)

I was going to do a seperate post for this next part but I decided just to put it all together. I neglected to mention Abigail's 4 month birthday over the weekend and I also forgot to mention that it has been a year since I found out I was pregnant!! Wow, I can not believe it!! Seems like just yesterday the dr was telling me I was probably going to miscarry. I am so glad the Lord had other plans! I couldn't imagine my life without that sweet baby girl. In case you are wondering, here are a few of the things she can do as of late:

Roll from belly to back (usually accidental but she did it twice today so I'm thinking she is getting the hang of it).

Grab her toes.

Hold her head up while she is on her belly.

Sqeal with delight when we talk to her and tickle her.

Hold toys, only briefly but she does it!

What I've learned

Hannah and Ryan spent this week at grandma by church's house. I have learned a few things in their absence.

A clean bathroom stays clean longer! Lets just face it-a clean house stays clean longer!

Abigail knew I was hoping for an "easy" week and she took that as a sign to add extra work! I think she made it her objective this week to poop more and spit up on herself or whoever was close by as often as possible.

I miss my dog feeder and mail getter a.k.a. Hannah.

I miss Ryan's growling...ok, not really...but I do miss his constant "I love you and Abigail and Hannah and daddy."

Dishes are still appearing in the sink and clothes are still appearing in the laundry. It's not all their fault after all! =)

I don't really miss having 5 neighbor kids around all day long.

I miss them helping me with the baby (if you can call it that) and I miss seeing her smile at them when they talk to her.

It's rather boring around here without them and a little too quiet! I'm not meant to only have one child. I love my life as mom of 3!
