Sunday Chills

I hate that the weekends go by so fast. Since Brad was home Friday, I was able to get my hair cut. We did a few other things like go to walmart (I bet you're surprised about that!) and Dollar Tree. It was my turn to read to Hannah's class in the afternoon. I love doing that! The kids are so fun. Hannah wanted daddy to pcik her up from school so he did. When they came in Hannah said they were spending the night at mamaw's. I was surprised but happy about it!! We planned on going out to supper anyway so we were happy to go alone! We went to see a movie and then went bowling with Brad's younger brother and his girlfriend. It was the latest I had stayed up in some time! But we had a lot of fun. We got several inches of snow during the night. We slept in on Sat (8:30 is sleeping in for us)! It continued snowing most of the day. I had a baby shower to go to and Hannah wanted to go with me so she could eat some cake. It was at 1 so I wanted to get the kids home and make her take a nap before we left. Also we wanted to get them before the roads got too horrible. Brad came home and said they were bad so he ended up driving us to the baby shower and then coming back and picking us up later. We stayed in Sat night. Then today after church Brad decided he wanted to start working on the kitchen. We are going to try to sell the house this summer (Lord willing) so he wants to paint everywhere. I am so dreading it. Now the dining room table is covered with everything that was on the counters. I hope it all makes it back before he goes out of town tomorrow. I did some laundry, which is folded neatly on my bed! Now I'm getting ready to get the kids dressed for church again. I'm hearing we might have a 2 hr delay tomorrow which I would love but I don't know about it. The main roads were clear earlier. We shall see.

my once weekly update....

Now that I only have the laptop over the weekend, you won't be seeing me on here much! I'll try to talk about the highlights of my week.....

Monday was a great day. Ryan was exceptionally good, probably because I spent more time playing with him than I normally do. We rollerbladed (yes, I had mine on too) around the house for awhile, played kick ball up and down the hallway, played cars and dinosaurs. I fondly remember throwing balls in the hallway at grandma and grandpa's house when we were young. It seemed so long until we were older and everything there seemed so small! And looking at all the pictures that covered the walls of the hallway. I always have wanted my hallway covered in pictures just like grandma had hers. It's amazing how important the small things are in life.

Tuesday.....I think Ryan and I went to walmart while Hannah was at school. So nothing too exciting about that! Tuesday night was a bad night. We keep a heater in Ryan's room because it gets a lot colder that the rest of the house when we shut the door. You can either just turn it on and it will run constantly or you can set the thermostat on it (which I normally set to 67). Well, Ryan woke up at 2:30 so I went in there and when I opened his door it was like an oven!! The heater said it was 82 degrees!! I felt so bad! Apparently I didn't set it like normally so it ran constantly. I'm surprised he made it till 2:30 before he woke up! He was all sweaty. I had to wash all his bed stuff the next day. Poor guy. He had a hard time going back to sleep after that. And then Hannah woke up around 3:30 crying b/c she didn't feel good. She's had a cold and cough for several days. So it took her forever to go back to sleep too. After having to go in both there rooms several times, I think it was 5 something when I laid down for the last time.

Wednesday I was planning on going to the mall but with the night we all had I knew Ryan would be in no mood to walk around the mall with me all morning so I spared us both the pain by staying home, taking it easy and getting good naps!!

Thurday (today) we went to the mall. I have been buying stuff for next winter and I think I might have done something wrong with Hannah's clothes. I realized today that on most size 6 clothes the size is XL but on regular size 6 the letter is L.....I think all the 6XL things I have been buying her might be too big next winter. Guess we'll find out this fall! I have been dying to get out the summer clothes I bot last year. Every once in awhile I'll go in there and just look thru everything. I love having everything already! =)

Tomorrow I am reading to Hannah's class in the afternoon. I may go get my hair trimmed up before that since Brad isn't on call and can keep Ryan. Maybe I'll convince him to take me out to supper or something. =) Who knows what we'll get into Sat.

Friday Fun day!

Brad was home today so I was hoping to get out of the house, but of course, he has been gone all week and doesn't really want to leave the house! On top of that, since he eats out 3 meals a day while he's working out of town, he wants to come home and eat some good cooking. By the weekend I am ready for a cooking break and want to eat out, plus I'm no cook to begin with! So around 4:30 he comes and asks me what is for supper. I told him that I laid out some hamburger to thaw. He asked me again, sarcastically, what was for supper (I guess the fact that I laid out hamburger didn't tell him anything=) ). I said whatever you want that has hamburger in it! =) He wanted tacos but I didn't because then I'd have to find something different for the kids to eat so we settled for spaghetti.

Also, tonight was Kid's Night Out at school. Once a month they show several different movies and the kids can come, pay $2 and eat popcorn and have a drink and watch one of the moves they are showing. Tonight was Hannah's first one. If you read my post from yesterday, you'll remember that I am trying to back up and give the girl some space and let her be a little more independent. She was so excited when I said I wasn't staying with her. After changing her mind several times, she chose Scooby Do because there were more kids in that room. =) That's my girl! She had a great time so I think she will be attending them all now! Ryan started crying when we said he couldn't go to the movie too. But him and daddy watched a movie of their own and ate popcorn so he was ok!

Tomorrow I think we are going to go to the Hunting and Fishing Show just for something different to do. The kids are free. We've never been but I think it is just a bunch of different vendors selling things of the sort and displays. Also I have a baby shower to go to. I am missing (or I should say the kids) a birthday party because of it but it would just be nearly impossible to make it to both.

That's all Folks!!

Finally got my laptop back!

So Brad came home from working out of town today and I have my laptop back! The funny thing is that he didn't even take it out of the bag while he was gone! I knew he wouldn't. He's too busy.

Monday-there was no school so I took the kids to see the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. I have never been a fan but the movie was pretty good. I don't think Ryan has ever sat so still during a movie! He was intrigued (sp?). Hannah loved all the singing and I caught her bopping around more than once. I can't remember what else we did that day.

Tuesday-Hannah went to school but I had to pick her up early for their dentist appt. I was nervous about Ryan since it was his first visit but he surprised me! He did super! The dentist always takes the new patients into a room before letting the hygeinists start working so he can talk to the kid and make them feel more comfy. Ryan kept telling him that he was 6. It was funny. So they both did great and have lovely teeth and no cavities still! I had to go to walmart so I bot some ice cream as a treat for doing so well and having great teeth!

Wednesday-church night. Nothing exciting happened that day. I think I cleaned up the house during the day. It rained most of the day. Oh yeah, we went over to grandma's house until it was time for supper.

Thursday (today)-Today I let Hannah walk to her class by herself. Normally I take her all the way to her room in the morning but she always asks me if I will just walk to the front door or the school. So I finally did it today! that is a big step for me! She really wants to ride the bus but I am not letting that start already. I know I can't keep her as my little girl forever so I'm trying to give her some space. I spent most of the morning cleaning and getting the house back in order before Brad got home. Then we went out for supper and had to go to walmart (I think walmart makes all it's money off us) to get a few things. It's been raining all day. So you can imagine what our yard looks like.

Nooooooo, not Monday again!!

Why does the weekend go so fast and the week so slow? Brad is headed back out of town again tomorrow. He bought a pistol over the weekend. Him and Chris took a bunch of scrap metal that they had tore out of an elevator to the junk yard and got $300 a piece! He's been wanting one so bad and you should have seen the smile on his face when he walked into the house carrying that case. Priceless. He rarely ever does nice things for himself. I am glad he was able to do this. That day we went out to his mom's house so he could shoot it! And he was showing everyone and calling everyone. Too funny! Anyway, I was going to say it is kinda for me. I'm eventually going to shoot it and get used to it. It is soooo loud, tho. I'm nervous about it. I'd feel better having that under the bed that that huge rifle that is under there now (with no bullets anywhere near it, how is that going to protect me?!)

Also this weekend the church had a couples movie night. We watched Laugh your way to a better marriage" It is a christian comedian, he actually said he was a pastor, but I don't know his name. It was nice to spend the evening with other young couples. We all brought a snack. Then after it was over (around 8:30) some of us sat around and talked till 11! It was nice. I love my church family. That is one good thing about a small church. We all know each other and are pretty close and like doing things together.

A couple times we were able to let the kids play outside and ride bikes. That has been so nice. I love this weather in the 40's! I never thot it could feel so warm!

A couple from church (Howard and Nancy, for those of you who know) had their granddaughter's over on Sat and called to see if they could have our kids for a few hours in the evening to play with them. They are actually much older than Hannah but they all still love to play together. They kind of babysit her! I think they are 10 and 14. I didn't let Ryan go over with them and afterwards Hannah said "thanks for lettimg me have a day to myself". It was so cute! I knew that Ryan would be too much of a handful and wouldn't enjoy playing with the girls. But he didn't mind staying here with us. Today at church Hannah asked Miss Nancy if she could go back to her house. So I'm sure that will be happening again!

There is no school tomorrow so I am planning on taking the kids to see the Chipmunk movie. I'm not a huge fan but everyone said it was good so....we'll see! Then Tuesday they have dentist appts. It will be Ryan's first appt. Last time he went with Hannah they tried talking to him and he wouldn't have anything to do with them! He wouldn't sit in the chair next to Hannah, open his mouth or anything!! So I am nervous about that! His dr said to play dentist at home and do some of the things they will do but I'm not so sure that is going to help.

Brad got the desk top up and running so he is going to be taking the laptop out of town with him. Now I have to deal with old school all week! I've been watching episodes of the Dog Whisperer on there and I love what he does! Brad was able to get his Elevator Mechanics License by being "grandfathered" in. I think that just means that he didn't have to take the test because he has enough hours of work just to be excepted. But he still has some sort of something he has to do on the internet and now he has to do so much continuing education stuff every year.

Well, I think I'm done for now.

update

Hannah was feeling some better mid-morning but she threw up a ton of gatorade around 1pm and started feeling puny again. She finally ate a few crackers and drank some ginger ale at Brad's g-ma's around dinner time and kept that down. Grandma sent a few pieces of corn bread home with us and she ate them later in the evening and has been asleep for a couple hours now. You might be wondering why she was at g-ma's.....I was so frustrated that it was sooooo nice here today and Ryan and I were stuck inside because of Hannah. It was almost 50 degrees!! So Hannah called her to see if she could go over there for awhile and I took Ryan outside. We both needed it. So the day ended pretty good. But no school for Hannah tomorrow.

vomit

I thought you all would love my title choice for today! That is what I have been dealing with. Last night after church Hannah and Ryan were running around, acting crazy, not listening to me and when we went to the truck Hannah said her stomach hurt and she didn't feel good. Well, being the good mother that I am, I did not believe her because she wasn't acting sick. At 3:45 this morning she woke me up crying saying she didn't feel good and she went into the bathroom and vomited. It was a lot more gagging than actual vomiting. And that started our morning! She only vomited three more times between then and 7am and hasn't done anything since. She is starting to perk up some now that I have Ryan in bed. She is very talkative but I have already told her that I am going to nap when I know Ryan is sleeping! I really need it today.

Last night at church, I was wearing my Buffalo sweatshirt that I got when I was in high school. One of the young men who sits right behind me commented on my shirt. I think he said "nice shirt" but I don't really remember now. I told him it was "old school, from when I was in high school and Brad was playing football" and I pointed out the date (1998). (I wasn't dating him yet). He said "wow, I was only 5 then." And for the first time in my entire life I seriously felt old! It doesn't seem like that long ago to me but I have almost been out of school for 10 yrs!! I told him exactly what I jsut said "for the first time in my life, that makes me feel old!" He also was wearing a Buffalo football shirt and the date was 2009. I said you just wait, in a couple years some kid, my Ryan, will come up to you and say the same thing you just said to me and you'll feel old too. It was just so weird, he is 10 yrs younger than me and I have never felt much different than him. Like I'm an adult and he's a child. Like, I feel like I could go in the youth class and sit next to him and no one would ever know I wasn't one of them!

On a good note, Brad will be home tonight.

opposites

Today was the opposite of yesterday! I haven't gotten anything done! When I went to bed around 11:30 last night, which is way later than I used to go to bed, I was worried that I wouldn't sleep well because Brad isn't home this week. I am always worried that I won't hear the alarm going off in the morning or I'll turn if off unconsciously and not get up. I do that a lot. So usually I find myslef waking up every hour or so looking at the clock. Well, when my phone rang at 5:30 this morning (I had it with me because Brad isn't home and because I was expecting a delay), it scared me and I jumped up! I hadn't woke up once during the night. So, Hannah had a 2 hr delay, which was nice. I got to sleep alittle later. It's crazy how half an hour can feel like so much more when you are sleeping. I had to go to walmart to get groceries and by the time I got back it was 12:30 so I fed Ryan and put him down for a nap. He was falling asleep in the truck on the way home so I knew I wasn't letting him skip his nap today! He is a bear when I do that and I didn't want to deal with it today. I had to wake him up to go get Hannah from school. I was so tired when we got home that I ended up taking a short cat nap on the couch while they were watching a movie. We ate supper, tossed the football some, Hannah did my hair and now they are in the bathtub. I don't usually let them play in the bathtub because they fight and get water everywhere but they were getting kinda bored so I thot that would be a good way to burn some time. Next I'll do Ryan's breathing treatment, read some books (thanks again Steph, I've been cleaning them up every day!) and watch biggest loser! Speaking or Ryan's breathing treatment.....I am supposed to be doing one every day but I have not been very faithful with it! I keep forgetting or just don't want to mess with it. But only another week or so and I can take that machine back! I am dreading to get that bill.....our insurance doesn't pay for it. Boo!!

productive day

I have struggled with getting the house in order ever since Hannah started Christmas break, 3 weeks ago! This past weekend I was getting so frustrated with the constant mess that I decided that when the week started I was going to get this place back in order. I did pretty well today. Before I could do anything, Sammy ran off when I let her out to potty. I usually dont just let her out becuase that is exactly what she does! But since it has been super cold, I decided to push my luck and just open the door and let her out because I didn't want to go out in the cold. It was real nice the times it worked! But I wasn't about to go after her. I yelled a couple of times and then just checked out the windows every once in awhile. About half an hour later I heard barking outside and there she was! Patches never runs off unless she sees something. Anyway, Ryan was content with watching cartoons or playing in the water. That's his new favorite thing to do and I don't mind as long as he keeps the water in the sink! So I was able to get the kitchen cleaned up and then went back to start cleaning my bathroon when I heard the dishwasher running. I had to ask myself more than once if I started it! I was sure that I didn't. So I asked Ryan if he turned it on. He said no and was so serious, for the first time I couldn't tell if he was lying or not! But then when I asked him if he put soap in before he turned it on, he said no! I knew it was him anyway, who else could it have been?! So then I finished cleaning the bathroon and started some laundry, cleaned up the livingroom and then went to start on Ryan's room.........dun, dun, dunnnnnn. I seriously could not walk thru it while I was putting his laundry away without tripping on or stepping on something! There wasn't a clear spot in there! I have been buying winter clothes for next year and just throwing it into his closet because it was such a disaster. I've been planning on cleaning his room up for a week (like everything else). So I finally got things organized in his closet and got things put away so I could sweep the floor. Then I worked in Hannah's room alittle. She always says it isn't fair that I clean Ryan's room but not hers so I did a few things in there and straightened her closet up. I am starting a new bag of clothes for my niece. But her room is still a mess. I'll make her clean it one day...I think I am done for the day now. I'm not feeling so good. My head and neck hurts and my stomach feels a little off. I think it is the cheeseball I made over the weekend.

Brad started another out of town job. He is in the same place as he was at the end of last year just another elevator! So 5 or 6 more weeks of him being out of town Mon-Thur and then I think he will be local again.

what we did today

Today's post is going to be mainly pictures. My goal was to focus on the kids because I knew that if I didn't, today was going to be a LONG day! So when 2 o'clock came around and I was thinking "it's 2 already?!" I was very happy!

First thing we did was take all our small, broken up pieces or crayons, tear the wrapper off them and bake them in muffin pans so they came out in colorful crayon circles! That only lasted about 20 minutes for the kids so I spent the last half hour peeling papers off myself while they laid next to me and drew pictures. Our finished products! We made 24 of them. Later Brad found several chewed up by the dogs so we don't have them all now! =)After we ate lunch we got bundled up and went outside to play in the snow. Before going down to the church to sled ride we got the mail and took grandma's to her. The kids had so much fun! After supper we played several games. This is Elmo Hot Tomato game. We actually got this game several years ago but never could get Elmo to work right. You are supposed to be able to push his nose and he starts gigling and vibrating and you start tossing him around and he goes off at random times. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We had sooooo much fun playing it that I have already decided I am going to start looking for it in the stores so I can buy a working one!Candyland! This is the first time Ryan has played with us and he actually did very well! He was able to find his colors on the board with some help! About half way thru he got bored and just wanted his man to walk on the path, which was fine with us!

And I painted Hannah's toenails, 2 different shades of pink.

So I think we had a pretty good day!

more snow!!

So this week Hannah has only gone to school on Monday (with a 2 hr delay) and today (they let out 2 hrs early)! It has already been cancelled for tomorrow. Today has been the worst day dealing with the kids. Ryan didn't get a nap since I had to pick Hannah up at 12:30. I really should have put him down when we got back but he had already been in his room for an hour and didn't go to sleep so I didn't make him go back. And Hannah was very tired when I picked her up. She always is. So they were both grouchy all evening. I finally made them both go to their rooms and stay for almost an hour, just to keep them away from each other. I told them they could come out eventually but Hannah never came out so when I finally went to check on her she was fast asleep! But I woke her up so she'd be ready for bed early. The other day I noticed that her top front teeth were kinda crooked so I started feeling around in there and they are both loose! They both have a dentist appt coming up soon. Ryan hasn't had a check up yet but when I took Hannah during the summer they tried to work with him some but he wouldn't sit in the chair or talk to the girls or anything so I hope this one goes better but I don't think it will! Other than that, I got nothin'. I just pray that tomorrow goes better with the kids than today did!

SNOW DAY!!!!

I was so dreading getting back into the old grind of getting up early and rushing around to get Hannah off to school. So far I haven't had to do that!! Yesterday there was a 2 hr delay, which I loved! When Brad left at 6:30 or so I said I wasn't going back to sleep. I felt wide awake. Next thing I know, I roll over and it's 8 o'clock!! The kids were still sleeping. I think Ryan is over getting up at 6am no matter what. I'm glad. But it has kinda changed his schedule some. He isn't ready for a nap by noon anymore. Yesterday he didn't even take one and they went to bed at like 6:45pm. I didn't get much done yesterday while Hannah was at school. I knew I wanted to go to Family Dollar because I had seen they had all their winter clothes on sale and I wanted to go back when I had time to look thru them and pick a few outfits for the kids for next winter. I also looked for things that would fit my baking nephew but didn't have any luck. (speaking of that, Jessica J started a blog so if you aren't following it yet, look her up) Anyway, I told Brad I wouldn't go shopping until I gave the dogs a bath and cleaned up the laundry room (where they sleep). But since I took Hannah to school at 9:45 I decided just to go on the the store while we were out and dressed and ready to go. That way we wouldn't have to go out again. It has been super cold here! So we got back home around lunchtime. Then I gave the dogs a bath and cleaned their room. When we got Hannah from school she was so tired! Soon after we got home, I found her in her robe, laying in her floor, holding Teddy (he's not allowed to leave her room). I knew she was tired. So I laid on her bed and we chatted for awhile about school and church while Ryan jumped on his own corner of the bed. It was nice to just hang out with them and talk to Hannah. I'm beginning to like that she is growing up some. I had the church ladies meeting to go to and then the school called last night to say there was another 2 hr delay and then they called at about 6:30 this morning to cancel school. The kids woke me up at about 7:45. I am getting too used to sleeping in! I haven't even taken a shower today. THe kids are playing so well together, I love it! I think we'll get bundled up later and go play in the snow.
